Together with the West Campus, it forms the dual main campuses of Renmin University in Beijing, responsible for talent training, scientific research and other functions.

The reporter learned that the building scale of the East Campus is 1.1 million square meters. It will be based on the plan of five departments, including the Department of Economics, the Department of Law and Political Science, the Department of Sociology, the Department of Humanities, the Department of Science and Engineering, and the Public Experiment Center. On the basis of consolidating and improving the school's traditional advantages in humanities and social disciplines, it will appropriately develop science, engineering, and medicine. The east campus is planned to be constructed in two phases. The first phase will focus on the campus core area, the campus front area and some professional apartments, with a construction area of ​​approximately 400,000 square meters. It mainly includes libraries, public teaching buildings, student affairs centers, college buildings, etc., which will be able to meet the school's educational needs after completion.

At the same time as Renmin University, the Tongzhou Campus of the Primary School Affiliated to the Middle School of Renmin University was also settled.
